The 2026 FIFA World Cup gets underway on June 11th 2026 and concludes on July 19th 2026. The tournament will be staged across three different countries with matches taking place in Canada, Mexico and the USA. There will 16 hosts cities throughout the five week period. This will be the first tournament to feature 48 teams (previously 32) and it will return to its traditional spot in the calendar of June/July (Qatar 2022 was held in December). With 16 additional teams featruing at this tournament, the group stage will last a little bit longer with teams being drawn into 12 groups of four. In total, there will 104 games played across the tournament with the final taking place at the Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New York on July 19th. The opening match will take place at Estadio Azteca, with co-hosts Mexico taking part in the curtain raiser.
