The 2024-25 Serie B season gets underway at the end of August 2024 and concludes at the start of June 2025. It is the 93rd season since the Italian second tier was rebranded Serie B. There will be 20 teams competing in the division once again with Sassuolo returning to this level for the first time in 11 years. They will be joined by Salernitana and Frosinone, who were remoted on the final day of the Serie A campaign. Cesena return to this level following their financial issues six years ago and they are joined by Carrarese who will returning to Serie B for the first time in 76 years. As always, the top two sides will be promoted to Serie A automatically with the six sides below (3rd-8th) entering the end-of-season play-offs.
