Bully Boy and Snakebite Set for Premier League Darts Battle in Leeds

We reach the final week of the regular season, with the top of the league as well as the playoff spots still all to play for in Leeds.

After tempers boiled over between Price and Gurney last week, it’s clear what is at stake in the remaining week of the Premier League. A spot at the O2 on May 23 gives four players a huge chance of glory, with the unpredictable nature of leg play lending itself to well-contested matches.

A point separates Cross and MVG at the top of the standings, with two points separating places three down to sixth; Wade is in the driving season out of all four playoff contenders fighting for two spots, but has a tricky fixture in trying to negate the skill of Voltage.

Albeit out of the running, Smith and Wright can act as spoilers in Leeds. Both Bully Boy and Snakebite are jostling for position to finish seventh, meaning an extra £5,000 in prize money.

There have only been five different winners of the Premier League since it started in 2005; this year looks the most likely of all to move that number to six.

Let’s take a look at Thursday’s action:

Gerwyn Price vs Peter Wright

Price has it in him to take both points from a lacklustre Peter Wright, however, it may not prove enough to grab him a playoff spot. Price has gone three without a win now, but Snakebite has only won twice all season. The pressure is on Price to deliver. Back the Iceman in a nail-biter that could see all 14 legs thrown.

Gerwyn Price to win @ 5/4 (BetVictor)

James Wade vs Rob Cross

The standout fixture of the final week of regular action. A draw will be enough for Wade who is looking to consolidate his third position, however, Cross needs both points to guarantee top spot in the league. Wade has lost once in his last nine Premier League matches; he’s calm enough under pressure to get the point he needs. 7-7 is priced well.

Wade 7-7 Cross @ 7/2 (BetVictor)

Michael van Gerwen vs Mensur Suljovic

Still within a chance of topping the regular league stage, MVG will be looking to put on a show against Gentle. Suljovic will slow the Dutchman down, but not enough to put him off his stride. Suljovic probably needs a point; I doubt he’ll get it. MVG to throw the most 180s at a canter, with a win by 3 clear legs.

Michael van Gerwen 8-4 Mensur Suljovic @ 6/1 (BetVictor)

Daryl Gurney vs Michael Smith

A point may well be enough for Gurney to sneak into the fourth playoff spot, but with his fierce rival Price breathing down his neck, Superchin will want both points. Just two losses in his last ten hold him in good stead coming into Leeds; his momentum should get him over the line against Bully Boy. Gurney to take it 8-5 or 8-4.

Daryl Gurney to win @ 5/4 (BetVictor)
